I am a 27 year old female who recently graduated from school and is now travelling the world. I am very thankful to have such an amazing opportunity to have trained under Derek. I asked him to make my training practical so it would give me confidence and some self defense techniques I can use when travelling. I must say that I was extremely impressed with my classes with Derek. When explaining concepts, he made sure to use examples and analogies that allowed me to easily understand it. He paced the training to my level by challenging me when he felt certain areas were too easy for me, and slowed down when I was struggling with certain techniques. At the end of my training, I felt a lot more confident in travelling alone and handling situations should anything do occur. But I think what I appreciate the most from my time training under Derek is that he truly cares about my safety and makes sure that I understand the concepts and techniques very well before moving on. I would recommend Derek to anyone who wishes to find a teacher who cares about their students' learning and advancement. Thank you for everything Derek! Karen
